Plusieurs attendaient une réplique possible du prochain Super Bowl pour le match entre les Packers et les Jets et malheureusement nous avons eu droit à des pires spectacle que la NFL a pu nous présenter depuis plusieurs années.
Évidemment j'étais présent sur place pour ce match et la déception des 80 000 fans et plus de la NFL étaient évidentes.
Commençons avec un peu de positif. Nous avons quitté le stationnement du Métro Radisson à 2h30 samedi matin en direction de la grosse pomme. À midi nous étions assis dans un sightseeing pour faire le tour du centre-ville de New York. Première arrêt au Mickey Mantle sports bar à Central Park. Un incontournable pour les amateurs de sport. Les murs sont tapissés de souvenirs autographiés et du sport à profusion sur les écrans télé. Le football collégial étaient à l'honneur.
Après avoir marché Time Square de long en large, c'est l'heure de passer aux choses sérieuses. Il faut se trouver un bar sportif pour le souper et la soirée. Nous allons au Tonic bar and restaurant et l'ambiance est à vomir. Nous trouvons enfin notre petit nid de comfort au Irish Pub sur la 7ième avenue. Du football collégial plein la télé avec en surplus les matchs des Knicks, Rangers et de la Série Mondiale de Baseball. Nous profitons de notre fin de soirée pour admirer le nightlife de NY sur Time Square avant d'aller faire notre petit dodo.
Place au plat de résistance dès 8h15 le lendemain, direction Meadowlands Stadium pour le match tant attendu. Le tailgate commence à 9h30 et déjà les immenses stationnements sont déjà occupés en partie par des partisans fous de la NFL. Nous entendons déjà nos premiers fuck you Packers et fuck you Rodgers. La journée risque d'être longue pour les fans des Packers.
Aprèes un tailgate superbe, il est 13h00 et c'est le temps d'ouvrir grand les yeux pour un match très attendu. Dès ce moment j'étais loin de penser que j'assisterais à une des pires performances de l'histoire des Jets de New York. Un jeu truqué manqué suite à une décision douteuse de Rex Ryan mène au premier trois points du match pour les Packers. La première demie se termine 3-0 pour les Packers et déjà les fans des Jets commencent à huer affectueusement son équipe.
Nous avons eu droit à la demie à une partie de football entre des jeunes de 10-11 ans. J'ai vu mes seuls touchés de la journée dans ce match de Little League. Un Wilcats et un jeu renversé ont mené à deux touchés des rouges. Un vieux routier près de moi n'a pu s'empêcher de crier un petit message à Rex Ryan suite à ce match en criant: We want the red coach!!!
Nous avons dû attendre au 4 ième quart pour voir à nouveau les Packers s'inscrire au pointage avec un autre botté. À partir de ce moment, le degré d'intelligence a baissé d'un cran dans ce stade nouveau sans saveur. Les partisans des Packers se font insulter à fond. Rex Ryan et Mark Sanchez sont également la cible de quelques commentaires savoureux. Le match se termine 9-0 pour les Packers et le rendez vous tant attendu n'a pas eu lieu.
Selon notre guide Francois Ratté des Sportifs en voyage et également journaliste sur Cyberpresse et Le Soleil à Québec, c'est le pire match qu'il a vu sur plus de 130 parties. J'ai pas trop de misère à le croire.
Un match de la NFL demeure un match de la NFL et l'expérience a encore été superbe. Pour le nouveau stade des Jets et des Giants, si vous aimez le gris, vous allez l'aimer. Un stade bien construit avec une bonne vision du jeu partout dans le stade. Cependant c'est un stade à mes yeux sans saveur et sans odeurs avec aucune identité. C'est gris de bord en bord et cela est dû au fait que deux équipes jouent dans ce stade. Alors on ne peut mettre de couleur dans le stade comme des bancs verts ou rouges par exemple.
En terminant j'ai remporté le pool dans l'autobus pour les bonnes prédictions de la journée. Nous étions 4 sur 48 qui avions pris les Packers pour ce match. Également plusieurs amis blogueurs auraient aimé entendre les commentaires des fans des Jets sur Rex Ryan. Il ne fait pas l'unanimité le bonhomme.
